An Enemy To Our Hopes & Dreams

Procrastination is a habit. It's a BAD habit and unfortunately, for many, it steals our hopes and dreams and can even destroy lives.

The crazy thing to me, is the bad habit of procrastination begins when we are like in junior high. We kind of think it's no big deal. Sadly, we take this habit from junior high into our adult years and it steals from us so many awesome things that could have been.

I was told a story about a person that when they were in junior high school, they procrastinated all the time. By the time they were pursuing becoming a veterinarian, they were always late on turning in projects, assignments and papers. The result; they were removed from vet school.

We are all guilty of procrastinating at some point. No one is a stranger to it, right? Some of us might be lucky enough to identify it in time and still do something about it but that's if we are lucky.

Procrastination to me is similar to an addiction. Addictions are usually very bad for us. Remember, the bad habit of procrastination NEVER does us any good. Whatever the reason may be, if you know you are a procrastinator, be careful: it has far more damaging effects than you may realize.

3 Dream Stealing Affects of Procrastination

1. You will lose precious time.

The worst thing about procrastinating is the moment you realize that you are two, five or ten years older and nothing has changed. Where did all the time go? All of a sudden, you are in a habit which will be dreadfully challenging to stop and time has so quickly gone by. Be the type of person whose values, priorities, and actions always agree with one another.

2. You will destroy opportunities.

How many opportunities are you okay with wasting? I hope none. Opportunities in most people's lives are rare. To intentionally waste an opportunity is crazy. I'd say the number one reason opportunities are wasted is procrastination.

What many don’t realize is that an opportunity could have been so positively life changing but many missed out on various opportunities. Most opportunities only come around a few times in life; you are never guaranteed a second chance.

Opportunities are the world’s way of helping you to capture your hopes and dreams!

3. You will damage your reputation.

When you keep saying you will do something and you don’t, your reputation gets damaged. Nobody wants empty promises. People will eventually stop depending on you and hold back on offering you opportunities because they could be worried that you will simply procrastinate and they will be left to clean up your mess. A bad reputation has multiple hidden negative effects.
