3 Commandments For A Happy Life

Have you ever thought about what "The good life" is? I've got a thought here: I think the good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot and realize how blessed you are for what you have.
Maybe the good life is about the simple pleasures that make you and me happy, the compassionate deeds you perform, the personal goals you strive to achieve, the relationships you nurture and the legacy you leave behind.
When it comes to my life, I like to take charge of my life. So here's a thought: Starting today, choose to take control of your life.
I know that ancient old dude from the Bible, Moses had 10 Commandments. Well, I'm an old dude and I only have 3 commandments.
3 Commandments For a Happy Life
1. Thou shall focus on the positive.
So much of our world is negative. I hate the negative. The way to overcome negative thoughts and destructive emotions is to develop opposing, positive emotions that are stronger and more powerful. Listen to your selftalk and replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Regardless of how a situation seems, focus on the next positive step forward.
2. Thou shall choose your friends wisely.
I'm a firm believer that we are very much like the people we hang out with. Listen, birds of a feather, really do flock together.
Your friends are family you choose. So make sure you choose friends who are worthy of your time and attention as well as your values. Surround yourself with people who reflect the person you want to be as well as the person who you currently are. Choose friends who you are proud to know, people you admire, who love and respect you – people who make your day a little brighter simply by being in it.
3. Thou shall live in the now.
Yesterday was a memory and tomorrow is kind of a fantasy. All I have is the now. Right now.
Life is happening right now. Instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, practice being and living in the present moment. Remember, right now is the only moment guaranteed to you and me. Right now is life. Don’t miss it.
So, if I get to be like 90 years old someday, then I'll give 10 commandments a shot. Until then, I'll live in the now and give you 3 commandments.
Your turn...
Which one of the "commandments" spoke to you and why? I'd love to hear from you. Leave me a comment, your thoughts.
