2 Things You Need To Focus On Less to Get Ahead Today!

I've noticed that from time to time, it's really easy to lose focus of what really is important. I mean, I find myself getting caught up in the business of life that it's easy to miss the most wonderful things in my life.
I've got a neighbor who is married. The man is 92 years old and his wife is 91. I've known them both for nearly 5 years. The amazing thing to me is during the spring, summer and fall, 7 days a week I see this couple walk past my house hand in hand with large smiles on their faces. Did I mention they are in their 90's?! One day last fall as they were walking past my house I stopped them to say hi. I then asked them, "Hey Leon and Helen, what advice would you give me to take my life from right now to being in my 90's and to enjoy my life?" They paused and then Helen spoke up, "Michael, the simple things are often the most important, and that we sometimes let challenging thoughts and bad habits get in our way of being happy and joyful." I then said, "Thank you Helen! Your words are so encouraging to me. What is something simple in your life that bring you and Leon joy and happiness?" Her reply, “Long walks with my husband Leon.”😊 Helen's response resonated deeply with me and put a huge smile on my face!
Which is why it’s time to focus less on…
1. All the little distractions.
Focus on the activities and people that make you happy, and filter out the avoidable opposites. Truth be told, we often make our lives complicated when it’s really quite simple: Find what it is that makes you happy and spend more time doing it. Find who it is that makes you smile and spend more time with them.
2. Negativity and those who create it. When other people treat you poorly, keep being you. Don’t ever let someone else’s bitterness change the person you are. Don’t let the silly little dramas of each day get you down either. Stay positive when negativity surrounds you. Keep calm and carry on. It takes one positive thought to overpower an entire army of negative thoughts. People who are able to find the one positive point in negative situations are the ones who never give up.
Don't ever forget, you become a true master of your life when you learn how to master your focus—where your attention goes.
